After last night’s “ challenging” Zoom meeting, I feel it necessary to explain the position of the Central Committee of Cardiff Dice Studz in relation to ( not) adopting the No More Damsels player code. And yes the code is a real thing!

We would also like to extend our sympathy to the family of Geoff Arncott who was mysteriously involved in a tragic road traffic accident whilst putting forward his proposals for the new Dice Studz disciplinary code.

The No More Damsels playing code includes the following aim;
“No More Damsels creates a supportive environment for women and non-binary people to enjoy tabletop. Our events are open to all, but aim to lift up the voices of women and nb players, who are often drowned out at regular rpg events. To allow us to do that we ask that you help create a positive culture by respecting your fellow players and make sure everyone at the table is having a good time! In short, be kind to one another. “

The code suggests the following points are classed as harassment. I include the reservations of the Central Committee after each point.
- Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, body size, age, race, or religion.
Offensive comments, whilst not encouraged, are to be countered by similar comments. In the words of my old grandfather, “ you fight fire, with fire!” Note, this was probably the reason why grandfather was fired from the Fire Brigade!

- Deliberate misgendering or use of ‘dead’ or rejected names.
The Central Committee reserves the right to refer to “ ladies” and “ gentlemen”. If you are unsure as to which group you belong then please inform a committee member.
- Gratuitous or off-topic sexual images or behaviour in spaces where they’re not appropriate.

- Prolonged physical contact without consent or after a request to stop.

- Threats of violence.
- Incitement of violence towards any individual.
- Deliberate intimidation.
- Stalking or following.
No member of Cardiff Dice Studz would ever stoop so low! Violent members will not be admitted, neither will members who show cowardice or hesitancy if a bundle breaks out on club outings.

- Harassing photography or recording.
This does not include this blog or any Club publication.
- Sustained disruption of discussion or game.
Table hanging is banned. If you aren’t playing , please don’t camp on the table side!
- Unwelcome sexual attention.
Most club members would not appreciate this prohibition!
- Deliberate “outing” of any aspect of a person’s identity without their consent.
We as a Club do not care what your sexuality is! We are a gaming club and will have no interest in your non-gaming amorous adventures.

So in a nutshell, the Dice Studz will not be adopting the No More Damsels protocol. We are thankful to our contributors to the virtual meeting. We are especially grateful to the outstanding contributions of the membership. Mr. J Gallacher’s study of Urangutangs was most illuminating. Who would have known that there is only one Alpha male amongst these primates and that the males that stay in the treetops with the females do not grow to maturity. He later added that domesticated pigs will develop the hair and tusks of any other wild breed when left in the wild. We are thankful for his knowledge.
It is always useful to have an ideal in our minds when we wish to test assertions. Females and non- binary people may be put off by wargamers. When one substitutes Cardiff Dice Studz into such an equation, there can only be one answer; all our welcome ( providing they are not found to possess undesirable character traits after their third club game)

We look forward to the Morgansdown Glorious Twelfth of July celebrations. We note with some relief that the photographs widely circulated were not of Club member, Garry Spence and that the damage done to the Riverside allotments was indeed caused by the “ wind”

Please note that Fat Larry and Lady- boy Kirk will be providing the usual barbecue on the Twelfth! No Surrender!
