“Are you aching for the blade?
That’s okay
We’re insured
Are you aching for the grave?
That’s okay
We’re insured

We’re getting away with it all messed up
We’re getting away with it all messed up
That’s the living”

Well it’s been some time since I found time to venture into my painting shed. Mention of the blade is a little dramatic but it’s been a lean Autumn so far. Most of my spare time has been on downsizing my parents’ house. On closer inspection, my dear mother get her papers in order but downsizing meant selling dad’s model police car collection. A collection, I must add, that I never knew he had!

Oh dear!

My god, it sends a shiver. I imagined my dear wife eBaying my collections after my descent to a firey pit. I do hope she doesn’t get a good price for it all! I did tell her that my miniatures were bought for about twenty pence each!

Childhood memories

Never much of a sharer my father, I do remember him telling me as a boy that I had too many toys and one half had to be thrown out. Well I now have my revenge but I’m beginning to suspect my dear mother in that extermination of war toys!🧸

Sage advice

They do say that if you can’t face painting and modelling then don’t buy more. So, despite having a cast of hundreds to choose from, I bought some more. And I’m back in the zone…

The ideas are flooding back and Will be shared here of course. First off is our clubs enduring love affair with To the Strongest and the new ( old) contender Commands and Colors, so please stay tuned..

  1. I love the idea of your dad having a secret collection of Police cars. Perhaps he was a Mr Big and planning his raids with suitable models and if so where are the unmarked cars and getaway vehicles. Surely there must be three Minis and a coach in the collection?

Perhaps you will find them later? Like most of us, it’s not so much having secret collections as lost ones. Moving house four years back was my great epiphany. But to quote Achtung Seeinehund! how can you ever have too much of something you didn’t ‘need’ in the first place?

    Keep painting.

    1. Wise words: it’s kind of a sad situation- he bought them, never opened the boxes and now they are sold! Toys need to be played with!
I do like your idea that he was like a 70 s villain planning a blag!
