Cricket first brought me to Devizes many years ago. My first claim to fame was being voted “man of the tour” despite not playing a single game of cricket. This Sunday was the start of the wargaming Summertime for yours truly, always a great show and very different from any other you might care to visit. The trade show has gone from strength to strength and the competitions are always well supported( Flames of War and various flavours of ancients/medievals). I include a few snaps taken between conversations with West Country glitterati.

A few years ago I came across War and Conquest, look out for the superb period variants on their website. The Renaissance and Succession supplements are amazing and all beautifully produced ( and they are free!!) I had to use all my powers of self control not to buy them. I bought a 28mm Red Baron instead!

I always get a pang of remorse when I see a Flames competition that I didn’t get round to entering. I blame die Fuhrer (again).
One of the many great display games. The show displays are always an attraction and show just what the average gamer can achieve.

But, it was in the Competition Hall that I finally cracked.
It was great to meet so many old pals from playing DBM over ten years ago! That was it, off to Ancient and Modern games for 15mm Medievals! After a long break I’m back playing DBA but that’s tomorrow’s post!
