My annual trek has just finished! Six days in the “wilderness” of the Brecon Beacons. Please note that only I could choose the busiest time of year to visit the Black Mountains. On my first day the campsite was mine and mine alone. Camped by a brook and had a fire courtesy of Sue’s treat in Llantony. My regular reader will remember “baby-gate” of two years ago😏. However, Crickhowell had been invaded by ten thousand Green Man Festival attendees so the normally silent valley was resonating to the very latest in Radio Six prog rock with far too many many male pony tails for my liking. Crickhowell does of course still have one of the best chip shops in Wales- just off to the north of the Main Street. Cwm Du is always welcoming and this time Sam and I camped outside the recycling area near the village hall as all the campsite places were taken. It took two days to get to Pen Y Fan. I liked the ascent so much on Monday evening that I walked straight off the mountain in a Northward direction, so Tuesday started with another walk to the summit and the correct Westward path to Corn Ddu. If only I had a better Geography teacher😤😡. Anyway back home now and next up will be the latest on Virtus 2017 and hopefully a whole host of other exciting days…..
