Too many ideas and too few years left to collect!? L’Art de la Guerre allowed the gamer to field armies that can be painted in two months, now the latest offering allows armies that could be yours in a fortnight. A hundred and twenty points gets you between ten and twelve “units” on a table less than two foot square. What is not to like?

The rebels square up to the Royal Army on Stoke Field 1487
The 120 point variant rules can be downloaded for free from the L’art de la Guerre website. Despertaferres Central Committee Member, Roberto Jamez, opted for the army of the Crown;
Two Competent generals- Oxford and Strange( I couldn’t bring myself to call Henry Tudor a “commander” in this battle. )
Royal Bodyguard Knights unit
One Mounted men-at-arms unit: heavy knight
One currours: heavy cavalry impact
Three foot Knights
Two retinue archers- longbow (elite) with stakes
One Northern lighthorse
One mercenary hand gunners unit( elite)
Two Northern Border Heavy swords 2hw (mediocre)

Representing the polyglot forces of rebellion, I fielded;
The Brilliant Martin Schwartz! Lincoln rated as “ordinary”. Schwartz may have been schooled in the latest European tactics but Lincoln’s command of tactics was hardly outstanding.
One dismounted men-at-arms unit
Three foot Knights units
Two longbow (elite) units
Three Irish javelinmen
Two “German” Pike units
One handgunner

The Rebels head over Burham Furlong to reclaim the throne!

Tudor archery was the bane of the lightly armed Irish in 1487 and 2017! Firearms would add to the discomfort.

The Rebel left wish that it had brought its stakes! Initial volleys game some cause for optimism though…….

With the Royal Knights falling back, Schwartz pushed forward to attack but if he had only looked over his right shoulder he would have seen his brave Irish being mown down.
Tudor Currors were in search of prey!

A brave attempt but the Tudor longbowmen held long enough for the flank to be rolled up!

Even the rebel Lincoln could see the end was in sight! A last gasp at breaking the Royal line failed dismally. The Red Gutter to the rear would be clogged with retreating rebels. My last defeat of 2017 but I’m sure next year will go better😥😥😥😳😬
Happy New Year and try 120 points L’ Art de la Guerre! Recommended by Tercio!
