From it’s release I was a massive fan of Firestorm Planetfall, painting up and playing a variety of factions. Though I did paint up a Hawker fleet, Armada never caught my imagination in the same way. However, when Warcradle picked up the I.P., I bought a whole bunch of Spartan stuff in the hope of new rules as slick as Wild West Exodus. It’s been a long wait. But now the Armada beta rules are looming on Mays horizon – so I broke out my airbrush and over the last week have started making sone heavy inroads into my stockpile. Pics are below of progress so far, “To infinity…and beyond!!”

The beta version is available on May 6th- many happy returns!

  1. Oooh, a lot of very nice ships there! 🙂 I’ve been lucky enough to have a wargames opponent who has a stack of Firestorm Armada ships, so I’ve played a few games and enjoyed them (the original rules though)!

  2. I have the original rules but never bought any figures for it. Those figures are really well done. They really can get one interested in the rules.😊

    1. Apart from a few 40k minis, I’ve never bought any Sci-fi. Steve however is such a good painter and the models are so cool, Christmas is only eight months away!

  3. Nicely painted. I’ve never played, don’t know anyone local who plays or would be interested, but it is one of those games I certainly keep an eye open for when I go to a games convention.

    1. Roger that- I don’t know very much about Sci-fi , apart from Star Wars repeats. The models Steve paints are always so good.
Your “paint what you own” initiative was our inspiration btw!

  4. I understand what you mean, a good paint job on Sci-fi figures can suck you in. A good paint job really is a top seller.

    1. I bumped into the designer in Salute about four years ago. I was so impressed that he took his idea and made it into a big company in double quick time. I hope his talents are still being rewarded with the change of ownership etc..
I love rattle cans but need to get an airbrush!!!!

    1. Oh God I ‘m beginning to feel the need for an airbrush and I just spent this month’s hobby allowance! The effects you can get though are worth the dark looks from my other half!
