Chaos!

Inner peace is hard to find sometimes! The fence had blown down, the car was in the garage and worse still the centre of my world had been trodden on….

Noooooh!

I know the paint workers at Vallejo are on strike but did they really need to sabotage their squeeze pots? Too bloody hard squeeze! In the words of Michael Caine; you only needed to blow the top off! Cork brown paint everywhere and then the boxes of minis behind me started to topple….

Sanity restored!

Well I could have given up right there but I remembered “ small steps.” The small steps are of course made no matter how wrong everything goes! I also discovered Speed paint won’t cover bare metal. It does however run over the completed horse flesh! I made a pact with myself that I wouldn’t leave the paint table until at least this one unit was completely finished.

Oh dear!

So, with one unit done, it was time to clear my Indians away. They were going to be a three day project but contrast paint this time was the culprit. I hadn’t completely covered the models and the wash didn’t adhere. I painted the ones who were passable but went back to GW paints!

Holy help!
GW to the rescue!

There is something about simple painting schemes. They often take ages. One colour, white, and four stages! Anyway, I’d recovered my composure and these too were finished!

Good tidings!
Calmness !
Who are you calling simple!?
Stones are cheaper than metal!

When you are introducing someone to our peculiar hobby one does have to consider what you promise. Some days everything goes swimmingly but other days….. my advice is to do at least something and you may, just may, get through it!

Small steps!

  1. I think we all have our share of disasters, so hope you got sorted! I remember coming in from a game one night, accidentally dropping my troops and then spending all night repairing them (and, although “dropping my troops” sounds like the sort of euphemism you find in Roger Mellie’s “Profanisaurus”, it does actually described what happened). Nice painted minis from you, as always, though!
