The knight is the person who can be both fierce and gentle, but such behavior is learned. In his own words:
“The man who combines both characters – the knight – is a work not of nature but of art; of that art which has human beings, instead of canvas or marble, for its medium.”
C.S. Lewis
What could be more enduring than the image of the knight. This week’s project has been Savoyard knights from the early sixteenth century.

I chose Lancashire Games 18mm to nearly round off my French Ordnance wargames army. I’d used Gladiator Games Italian wars miniatures for the bulk of this collection: big chunky characterful miniatures. when mixed on the same base, I think I got away with it..

The new knights are big ( relatively) if you see what I mean but they were a delight to paint. I say “ paint” but a single rattle can did most of the heavy lifting. I had only to highlight the metal and add a limited pallette of cartoon style paints.

The closing of this project coincides with the opening up of the latest offering from the Games of Thrones saga: A knight of the Seven Kingdoms. This week’s project has seen me revisit the first series of True Detective so Egg had stiff competition! Only now in episode three has my interest really risen in Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. A clumsy hedge knight plodding around in the mud just wasn’t cutting it but now I’m hooked!

Falsely accused the spud faced chancer is forced to fight for his honour. Now we can see the genius of the writer;
“ In the name of the Warrior, I charge you to be brave
In the name of the Father, I charge you to be just
In the name of the Mother, I charge you to protect the young and innocent.”
This is what the series and the minis needed- the true spit of the knight.
