If a week is a long time in politics why then over forty years is a geological era in wargaming. Operation Warboard was one of one of my very first purchases. A book mind you! A book from a shop no less.

The photos may not live up to today’s technicolour AI enhanced images but I must have read the opening battle report a hundred times. Was the American commander unwise to lead with his tanks? Should the Germans have utilised the pillbox? I was hooked!

Well now we enter the age of home printing and memories stirred when perusing the net. If ever I was to actually play the scenario, all these years later, then I needed more jeeps. More jeeps to go screaming through the centre of the ville.

Which gamer worth his salt wants to be a careful player. I bought three jeeps and fully intended to sweep into the defenders in a true Eagle has Landed assault!

Resin Warfare minis remind me of Lego figures but that’s no bad thing is it? I went for my usual cartoon style of painting and they were done in two evenings.

I made the school boy error of glueing the crew in before painting them. I’ll remember next time.

So I need one more M3 half track and one more Sherman and I’m ready! I know it’s taken over forty years but I still feel that boyish enthusiasm for our hobby!
