A hot topic of conversation amongst gamers has long been how to get new blood into an ageing demographic. Are younger players really going to commit to the time and effort necessary to paint three hundred miniatures? Is the busy family man going to be able to find the time? Will the fifty year old batchelor ever lift himself off his settee and unlock his wallet? Well the time is now!

The answer is of course Games Workshop Contrast paints. Add the new(ish) paints to the superb Footsore minis and you have a winning combination. These are barbarian heroes for my To the Strongest build. The games system recognises how the actions of individuals can sometimes sway a battle at key moments. So within two hours I’d done three Vandal heroes riding to victory.

You need to use the recommended undercoat but the Contrast paints are such a joy to use. Four colours covered most of the minis and all fine details were added but in the immortal words of Simon Clarke, ” only where they can be seen!”

I hate wasting paint, I really should get a wet pallette. With the spare paint I started on a new Late Roman group. Again contrast paints and Little Bigman transfers came to the rescue! After a while day of Birthday wargaming, this little foursome was finished in an hour.
So to all those doubters out there, when you hear potential recruits saying that they haven’t got the time- we have an answer!

Please note: no freebies were sent to myself or any relative. If you would like to bribe me then please send all parcels and cash to our usual garden centre carpark pick up point.
