Risorgimento Additions

Who could fail to be tempted by a new period!

I recently finished basing a regiment of Piedmontese Heavy Cavalry for the Second War of Italian Independence (otherwise the Franco-Austrian War) of 1859. I thought it would be nice to get out the rest of my Piedmontese troops for that war, namely an Infantry Regiment with four battalions and a Battalion of Bersaglieri or light infantry.

All the figures are from the “Gringo 40” Risorgimento Range. I also have Austrians to fight the Troops of King Vittorio Emanuele plus the King’s French allies.

All the figures were painted for me, the infantry by Russell Westwood and the Cavalry by Matt Slade. They were all based by me. Indeed I see I have changed my basing style since the infantry were finished. Tufts are all the rage now I am afraid.

The Flags are from Gringo 40’s too, though I think they produced by “Flags for the Lads”.

Sadly these troops have yet to take to the field. I shall have to change that!

Oooh, these are really nice! 🙂 A good period to game as well! I’m currently planning on adding Sardinian heavy cavalry, Bersaglieri and artillery units to my very small Sardinian army! Fortunately I have a larger French army to back them up!
