I knew I needed bases for my wargames army. They were for the Vandals originally. My idea was fair haired barbarian horsemen debusing from their ships onto a beach. Then I came across a discussion about the Vikings in Britain not being Nordic superheroes but just the latest line of Northern/ Germanic raiders to arrive in Britain since Rome departed…
Collecting far too many miniatures, especially chickens and sheep for some reason, I was off! I raided the bits box for Western planking, Rohan horse heads and Russian kits of longships.
It took a long time to get it all together though. I tried using matchsticks but tile spacers were the answer for supports.
As with many of my ideas, the project just grew and grew. I’ve had a Hun yurt knocking around for ages so I decided to add some Germanic auxiliaries to the scene.
And just when I thought I’d finished, I realised I had enough Vikings to start another DBA army and enough slaves and chickens to begin my mind contemplating still more….,
