Now for some good news! My absolute favourite graphic artist, Chris Steininger is “seventy percent through” completing the artwork for the much anticipated ” In Search of Hannibal” graphic novel. If you haven’t come across Chris Steininger’s work. Then go immediately to YouTube and prepare to be amazed….
In Dagon, the artwork is captivating and so evocative of the Lovecraft tale. The combination of colour and attention to detail is of the highest order. Similarly, in Trees you can see the master draughtman at work.

Chris Steininger has also teamed up with Mike Bennett to produce “Ravens”, another dark tale but beautifully brought to life. The Children of Odin is also in production as I write.
Hannibal is still reliant upon Nikolas Lloyd a.k.a. Lindybeige to complete the script but we are assured in the latest YouTube update that the script too is “ninety two percent” complete. The Kickstarter was over subscribed by four hundred percent so I am not the only one who is waiting in eager anticipation. Sargon met with Lloyd and Steininger some four years ago now, when the project was first advertised on Kickstarter. If you are one of Lindybeige’s many fans then you will know that the man is a legend in his own lifetime. “Smile Titans” is Chris’ must watch YouTube site and here he laments what it is like to work with an author whose attention to the smallest detail is verging on the obsessive…..

The Kickstarter deadline may have been a trifle optimistic but the wait is almost over! Chris has released some amazing pages and the historical gamer will be in for a real treat. Lindybeige has captured the drama of the actions in text and Steininger’s eye for action is nothing short of breath taking. Each page takes forty hours on average and you can quite see why…

Will the book be an Easter present? Well I doubt that but I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. Chris himself recommends keeping a maximum of five projects on the go at any one time and rumour has it that he has been noticed by a big name and his services earmarked for a major commission so we will have to wait some more. Smile Titans details Chris’ travels to the areas mentioned in Cottrell’s “Hannibal : enemy of Rome”, and that trip is my own personal goal for tomorrow, sometime, maybe?………….
