Tricorne Games day at Firestorm Games in Cardiff
Many thanks to Douglas for hosting and the good sportsmanship, thanks to James Churchill for providing additional opposition.
We gamed Guilford Courthouse 1781 and Culloden 1746.

A day of triumph for the superior training and leadership of his majesty’s army over the Colonial and Jacobite interlopers!

After lunch we switched sides after first game of Guilford Courthouse and whilst a closer game there was no stopping the British.

Both great games that captured the feel of the colonial militia’s vulnerability and the relentless advance of the British regulars particularly the elite Guards in the face of continued resistance.

The flags denote where a unit or general was eliminated the Union Jack a colonial loss and visa versa.
The Battle of Culloden featured several uncoordinated attacks by the brave Jacobites where they caused severe casualties and panic among the Government ranks.

Just when the Sempill and Campbell thought they had won the field on the left the Jacobites gave them another lesson putting them both to flight.
But, the solid well drilled government troops held the field and won the day as the rebellion melted away.

I visited Cardiff Castle the following day, just to round off the visit!

The next “Command and Colors meet” will be on the 29th May and we all look forward to it!
